ABOUT US

Team Wapusk consists of Dave Daley and his family, as well as several unique individuals from around the world that have decided to call Churchill Manitoba their home.

Their common love for dogs and the outdoors has brought them together and enabled them to work seamlessly as a team.

STORY OF WAPUSK

It all started in 1997 when Dave Daley built a log home as well as the attached Wapusk General Store. Dave’s love of dogs put him on the path to becoming a dog musher and he soon started the tour company Wapusk Adventures in 2001.

At first he operated tours from behind his home and later upgraded to a trappers tent in the boreal forest. Years of hard work and dedication from both Dave Daley and Team Wapusk have led to what the company is today. The facilities are constantly being upgraded to provide guests with the best experience possible during their visit.

What began with 10 dogs and a dream has now grown into an award winning company with a team of 43 super star sled dogs. Each year thousands of tourists from around the world visit Wapusk Adventures to experience and learn the art of dog sledding from the “Big Dog” Dave Daley.

Wapusk Adventures isn’t just a tour company, it’s a long distance racing kennel that nurtures their dogs love of running while providing them with the best care possible. In 2004 Dave Daley founded the world renowned Hudson Bay Quest dog sled race which has a reputation for it’s exceptional care of sled dogs. The race continues to this day.

Dave’s accomplishments have earned him several awards including the Manitoba Aboriginal tourism award in 2009, the Spirit of the earth award in 2009 and the Northern Manitoba Indigenous tourism award in 2019. In 2007 he was sponsored by Canada Goose and named one of 50 “Goose People” for the companies 50th anniversary.

Wapusk Adventures is also partnered with several award winning tour companies and businesses including Frontiers North Adventures, Natural Habitat Adventures, TAUCK Tours, Churchill Northern Study Centre, Lazy Bear Expeditions and many more.
